Johnston McCully’s creation returns to print after many, many years. Too bad the subsequent novels, written by other folks, didn’t catch on.
A celebration of Western novels, comics, movies, television and literature, both classics and contemporary. Although comments will be posted on some entries and not others, I won't necessarily be "reviewing" each item. I just appreciate Westerns in general and hope that fellow kindred spirits will, too. 5 CARD STUD
Not only did Ray Gaulden sign this and send it back to me, he included several of his other books that I didn’t have and hadn’t heard of.
Most everyone who’s seen this movie will remember how co-star Roddy McDowell steals it from Dean and Robert with his weasel-like performance as a more or less bad guy in the story.
There is some mystery in the film as to who the vigilante killer is, but in the novel you know almost from the get-go who it is and what his motives are. Plus, he enjoys killing just a bit too much.
Good title song by Dean Martin.
