A celebration of Western novels, comics, movies, television and literature, both classics and contemporary. Although comments will be posted on some entries and not others, I won't necessarily be "reviewing" each item. I just appreciate Westerns in general and hope that fellow kindred spirits will, too. THE LEGEND OF THE LONE RANGER
Gary McCarthy's good novelization of a terrible movie.
Does anyone remember Klinton Spillsbury? No? Playing Jim Reid turned out to be a one-shot deal for him. Reports were that his ego went WAY out of control and he became an insufferable putz during filming.
That, along with the fact that the movie bombed, pretty much assured us that ol' Klinton was going back to washing spoons somewhere. His speaking voice was so bad, on top of everything else, that the producers hired Stacy Keach as a vocal sub.
Thank God they got a writer of Gary's stature to salvage some of this mess.
